FOEC Spring Celebration Fundraiser Recap

Friends of Euclid Creek held our first big fundraiser on Friday, April 24 at Acacia Reservation in Lyndhurst. 93 generous Friends of Euclid Creek supporters enjoyed a great evening and raised nearly $2,500 to support education and outreach and to add to the Land Conservation Fund to protect sensitive land in the watershed!

What a great evening we had at Acacia Reservation. The “Spring Celebration” was a great way to celebrate spring after our long cold winter. The evening included great food catered by Dino's Catering at Acacia accompanied by musician, Jimmy Maguire, the guitarist who played smooth acoustic melodies (great referral from the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes!).

Chris Ronayne, President of University Circle Inc., was the keynote speaker and engaging as ever. He discussed the progress and development at University Circle. He had quite the fan club in attendance.

We then held an auction and raffle. Artist Wendy Mahon painted an amazing underwater world on the rain barrel auctioned to watershed-resident Kim Colich. Raffle winners received donated items, such as Fish Furniture gift certificates, a Giant Eagle tea basket, and Fantasy Candies popcorn tray.

Barb Holtz led everyone on a voyage inside Euclid Creek, and shared a story about the creek. She included a short game to get people engaged in thinking about the creek on a larger scale. People seemed to really enjoy it.

Acacia is a lovely venue on any occasion. It was especially awesome that night as twilight cast a glow on the property, which used to be the golf course. We watched through the windows, and commented how wonderful nature is, and are very grateful for this naturalizing property is right in our own watershed.

We would like to sincerely thank all of our sponsors for helping us make this night possible:
