HAPPY HOLIDAYS Everyone!
We haven't talked in a few months so it's time to catch up. Thirty people come to the "Holiday Get Together" at Mulligans in Highland Hts. this month instead of our traditional Holiday Party. Everyone had a great time. (See the pictures attached.) Barb Holtz won the OSU tree book door prize. Great food, great friends.
We have had another year of mingling restrictions but Friends of Euclid Creek held zoom programs and outdoor fall programs. Please read the Euclid Creek Watershed Program Newsletter for watershed activities. I listed FOEC events in my President's Letter. 2021 Draft ECWP Newsletter_Web.pub (cuyahogaswcd.org)
Good news! We have received a grant from Dominion Energy/Western Reserve Land Conservancy again this year. This grant was written by Meg Hennessey and Elizabeth Hizer, Euclid Creek Watershed Program, for FOEC. It will provide streamside residents native tree and brush seedlings with educational materials on the benefits of streamside buffers. There is no cost to the participant other than we ask them to plant the seedlings, provide deer protection as they are able and water them in times of drought. You will hear more about this in the early Spring. Here is more information from the 2021 Rocky River program https://www.cuyahogaswcd.org/programs/rocky-river-backyard-buffers .
We have updated our Friends of Euclid Creek brochure.
Our Education Chair, Steve McIntosh, is busy coming up with our 2022 6-month calendar of activities. It will be out late January or early February:
SPECIAL EVENT COMING - February - we will have our 2022 KICK OFF MEETING. A good time to learn more about Friends of Euclid Creek and meet other environmentally minded people.
ALSO, we are working on our 2022 Annual Meeting & Picnic in June. That will be a good time.
Thank You to all our donors and members! We have surpassed our goal of 40 members this year including new and renewals! If you have any questions about your membership dues please contact Natalie Keyerleber, Membership Chair, natalie@keyerleber.com.
Thank you to Carolyn Sugiuchi, Steven & Joan Albro, and Rona Weiss for their generous donations! Welcome to all our new members and renewals. Thank all of you for your support of FOEC and the environment.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you next year! Everyone have a safe and happy holiday season.
Season's Greetings,
