Cuyahoga SWCD 75th Anniversary Conservation Tours

Join us as we continue celebrating Cuyahoga SWCD's 75th Anniversary!

CELEBRATING 75 YEARS OF CONSERVATION!!

 

Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District’s board and staff invite you to join us in celebrating 75 years of conservation across Cuyahoga County with tours of our engaging and impactful projects. You’ll get a chance to learn more about our work and service areas, and see our team’s hard work in action!

Lunch and ice cream will be provided for all registered participants following the tours.

DATE/TIME:

May 31st, 2024 | 8:30am-1:30pm

LOCATION:

Buses depart from/return to Cuyahoga SWCD Offices (3311 Perkins Avenue, Cleveland, 44114). East Side and West Side tour options will be available. See details below.

COST:

FREE (Note: Space is limited, so registration IS required)

 

ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY:

Transportation for the Conservation Tours will be provided via charter buses, with limited ADA accessibility. Access to restrooms may be limited throughout the tour as well. Site tours may require limited walking over rough and/or uneven terrain. A participation waiver will be required for all participants touring sites. If you require additional accommodations, please contact Cuyahoga SWCD using the contact form below and we will do our best to make reasonable accommodations where applicable.

TOUR DETAILS

The EAST Side Tour will highlight the following:

  • WILDWOOD PARK – Euclid Creek Restoration
    • CSWCD received $1.1M in GLRI funding to restore Euclid Creek oxbow and improve lacustuary habitat.

 

  • MASJID BALIL – Sacred Grounds Project
    • Partnership with the National Wildlife Federation to engage houses of worship in adopting native plants and other practices on their grounds.

 

  • SOWINSKI PARK – Stream Restoration, Cuyahoga AOC Management Action Project
    • One of the Cuyahoga River Area of Concern’s (AOC) management action projects that will create an oxbow wetland, improving habitat.

 

  • MAYFIELD VILLAGE – On-site stormwater control measures
    • On-site stormwater control measures of a residential subdivision under construction.

The WEST Side Tour will highlight the following:

  • CITY OF BROOK PARK – HUTC Tree Planting
    • 150+ trees planted around City Hall and Kennedy Park through the Cuyahoga County Healthy Urban Tree Canopy Program.

 

  • GRINDSTONE ELEMENTARY – Rain Garden Installation
    • School program led by students and teachers, with support from CSWCD, to install educational rain garden at the school.

 

  • GREENBRIAR VALLEY – Stream Restoration
    • CSWCD received $350,000 in funding support from Ohio EPA and NEORSD to restore portions of Rocky River in North Royalton.

 

  • CITY OF INDEPENDENCE – Stormwater control measures
    • On-site and long-term stormwater control measures at a house of worship nearing the end of a construction project.
